Ultrasound and Chiropractic

To make a proper diagnosis of soft tissue (tendons, muscles and ligament etc) conditions, it is possible to make an ultrasound scan. With an ultrasound, images are made of soft tissues using ultrasound waves. This allows the chiropractor to gain insight into the size, structure and possible pathological abnormalities of the so-called soft tissues.

Do you have any of the following complaints?

  • Shoulder pain with limited range of motion
  • Chronic elbow pain (tennis and golfer's elbow)
  • Pain in the wrists and hand (carpal tunnel, Dupuytren)
  • Hip bursitis
  • Knee pain, knee instability, ligaments and tendons (jumpers knee, Osgood Schlatter)
  • Chronic Achilles tendon pain (achillodynia)
  • Chronic neck, shoulder or back pain
  • Tendonitis
  • Bursitis
  • Shin pain
  • Heel pain (heel spur/plantar fasciitis) ankle and/or foot pain

By soft tissue we mean, among other things, muscles, tendons, ligaments. For example, if we take tennis elbow, ultrasound can show the tendon attachment on the outside of the elbow (lateral epicondyle) and the chiropractor can determine the exact point of the inflammation. This allows the chiropractor to treat the precise site of the inflammation with shockwave.

Based on the images that the chiropractor sees, he can make a diagnosis. He will then adjust his treatment plan accordingly. Treatment with shockwave therapy is possible. The injured area will then be treated with chiropractic technique and supported by shockwave therapy.
