Chiropractic treatment
We seperate chiropractic treatments into 3 fases:
Intensive/correctional fase
- the patient will need to have frequent treatments
- the most corrections will be made in this fase, in order to restore spinal mobility
and flexibility.
Stabilising fase
- this is the "fine-tuning-fase", in order to achive optimal recovery.
- the patient can resume daily life, including sportactivities and gradually resume
work again.
Maintenance fase
- the chiropractor will start to extend time between treatments, to create more
stability. - time between treatments vary per patient, depending on the nature of their
complaints, condition and age. - by maintaining the body correctly, it will decrease the chance of complaints
repeating themselves and the patient maintains optimal freedom in movement.
Different techniques in treating
A chiropractor is able to use many differents techniques when treating a patient. The simularity between these techniques is that a chiropractor uses his hands to make the correction, some call this a manipulative adjustment. When the chiropractor makes the correction, this particular area of the spine will be treated where an abnormality (subluxation) has been detected. This means that the hands must put some pressure on the joint in order to restore freedom of movement.
Popping sound
During this adjustment it's possible for the patient to hear a "popping" sound. This pop is a result of an airbubble forming in the joint, that has been released because of the pressure on it and therefore causes this sound. It does not mean that you hear bones scraping against eachother or alignments tearing. With some techniques used by a chiropractor, you will never hear this popping sound. A chiropractor will adapt his techniques accordingly when treating babies and elderly people.
